Art
is the Mind and Soul
“The
earth without art is just eh.” Art soothes, provides, and teaches. It is a
creative outlet for humans because without art they become cynical and
resentful and helps build important social skills.
Art is inefficient because the time invested into
creating an image could be used for other things. Art is only an image, anyone
can create art. The time invested could be used to further skills in required
fields such as mathematics, social science, and literature; core subjects that
are mandatory for education. In past eras art was used to evoke emotions,
messages, and sway the people. Society does not need art anymore to promote
because they have journalism now. Art is only inefficient because people do not
understand it. If people were more educated about art then the benefits and
beauty of art would be understood and appreciated. One can perceive it as one
thing while someone else can perceive it for another. To each person art
invokes a different kind and different level of connection. Art has many
therapeutic elements and builds social skills but people do not take time out
of their busy life to stop, appreciate, and learn the pleasures of life.
Art
allows humans to express words that cannot be expressed. Some people are able
to express themselves well through penmanship, others are not as fortunate and
do not like to be vocal about their thoughts so they express themselves through
art. Art is quiet in nature but can bring forth strong messages that voices
cannot compare to. It allows humans to express their emotions whether it is
sadness, anger, or happiness. Emotions are captured by the artist and evoked
from the audience when they connect with the piece of art. Art reflects the
state of mind during a period of time. Many somber situations occur in life
each day. There are times when I have sadness and anger within me and I cannot
cry nor can I scream to let the anger out. I create art to portray what is
going inside of me whether it be a typhoon or a cold desert night. I sit in one
place for hours in one place interacting with pottery but it relieves my
stress. Through art I am able to silently address my sadness and anger by
displaying it on a piece of art work. I let my thoughts flow to my hands to
create what I feel. Without art emotions would build up within a person,
causing them to be irritable or depressed. Art is able to bring beauty into the
world of darkness. Art can make sadness all the more heart wrenching but it
also makes it beautiful. I am able to share my story through an image for
society to enjoy in quietness. They can understand and feel the emotions fused
into the work. Without a stress reliever, emotions are bottled up. The
inability to express one’s emotions and thoughts stresses. Sadness is harbored
and eventually turns into depression. Anger, resent, and untold stories haunts
the individual. Through art the pain he or she is experiencing is revealed alleviating
it. Individuals are able to connect to one another through art. Words are
unspoken but thousands of emotions and feelings are shared through a simple
piece. Friendship can be formed through one piece of art.
Art
teaches simple life lessons and builds social skills. As a child, I had been
determined to follow everything by a specific order or else it would not be
alright in my eyes. If things did not go the way it should have then I
immediately stopped and start over, if I was too frustrated then I would just
throw in the towel and call it quits. Art taught me to be persistent even if
the beginning doesn’t appear to be what I hoped for. I can still express myself
through mistakes I made because those mistakes are a part of my flaws and a
part of who I am. Art builds character and enables one to better understand him
or her. I was able to understand myself more because of the art work I created,
why I created them and what they represented in my subconscious mind. I am
capable of understanding and finding out more about myself through what my
minds create. By creating art, humans are creating unspoken with one another;
they are learning how to relate to one another.
